Last Night – 9pm – Phone Call
Blood gas is down to 55! ๐๐ป๐๐ป๐๐ป
Fascinating story: Monica, with her perfect memory (seriously; Iโd be completely lost without her), heard the Dr tell us he needed to be under 60 to avoid re-intubation. Dr did mention something about 55 which I hear as โhad to be 55โโฆ
Thats what I wrote about, thatโs what I prayed for. Apparently, everyone else was praying for 60.
Lord, thank you for hearing me. The struggle for much of my life has been thinking that you donโt.
Psalm 86:6โ9
โLord, hear my prayer;
listen to my plea for mercy.
I call on You in the day of my distress,
for You will answer me.
Lord, there is no one like You among the gods,
and there are no works like Yours.
All the nations You have made
will come and bow down before You, Lord,
and will honor Your name.
For You are great and perform wonders;
You alone are God.โ
5:20am – Phone Call
Blood gas is now down to 47 with O2 rate of 48% ๐๐ป๐๐ป๐๐ป
Heโs also satting at 94 ๐๐ป๐๐ป๐๐ป
Asherโs had a great night! Weโre hoping to be able to hold him later on today and get him back on his feedsโฆ
9:14am – Phone Call
Blood gas from the 8am draw was 48% with an oxygen rate of 26%.
Which according to his nurse “is beautiful!”
Still high satting…
Here’s how the weaning process, as we understand it, works:
- Wean Pressure (the amount of air pressure keeping his lungs open)
- Raise O2 until getting consistently high saturation
- Wean O2 as close to 21% as possible with high saturation
- Wean Pressure
- Rasie O2
- Wean O2
- And so on…
All the while testing his ABG every 2-6 hours. This process will happen until he transfers from nasal cannula to CPAP. Then from CPAP to breathing 100% on his own…
12:59pm – Hospital
Blood gas is now at 54%. Still within the range ๐๐ป๐๐ป Because heโs been high satting and the last gas was good, they wonโt test him again until the morningโฆ
Theyโll start him back up on low level feeds tomorrow ๐
His Dr said heโs no longer on her naughty list ๐
All the glory to our almighty Fatherโฆ
โI will be with you
when you pass through the waters,
and when you pass through the rivers,
they will not overwhelm you.
You will not be scorched
when you walk through the fire,
and the flame will not burn you.โ
