Asher’s had some really good days this week!

He’s back on hi-flow O2 again and satting well…

He’s back up to full feeds with a bottle (he killed a 50mL bottle with mom last night!)…

As you can see during his bubble bath (first time he’s been able to be soaked in a tub) he was HANGRY!

We’re still waiting on head ultrasound results. We’re hoping that because it’s been 24 hours since the ultrasound and we haven’t heard anything that the results weren’t “bad”. We spoke with Dr Sahni yesterday and she did mention that they want to do another CT scan to confirm things are working well for the shunt, drainage, etc…

We’re headed to the hospital this morning. Once we have an update on the ultrasound results, I’ll update this post…

Update: 10:56am – Phone Call

Well…

Asher has surgery tomorrow at 8am. The ultrasound showed that the left ventricle is dilated and distended, thus pushing into the right ventricle…

He’ll be NPO at midnight. He’ll have an PIV and a midline (longer term PIV) put in for TPN nutrition, meds, labs, etc. He’ll also be re-intubated…

The NICU mantra is definitely holding true…

We’ll be able to feed him via bottle today. And he’ll have a couple more before he’s NPO tonight. His O2 setting we’re weaned down today, but I’ll spare you the numbers since they’re going back up tomorrow 🙁

We’re sad to say the least… Deflated at best…

BUT…

God is still good…

We’re blessed to have this done now. Nurse Kelly has already lined up his nursing team for nights (the best nurses available) and we’re working on our requests for days. We’re also requesting Dr Ramsey be his doctor until Dr Lipsky gets back. They’re good friends and Dr Lipsky always speaks highly of Dr Ramsey…

We’re praying that surgery goes well tomorrow with zero complications and that this is his last surgery…

He’s already had his stealth CT scan today so Dr Bragg can navigate the procedure…

Now we wait…
